i go for a walk

December 14th, 2024

its raining as i am walking a few miles to the “downtown” area of the city. listening to my copy of doesn’t the baby by windier* im transfixed on the song look for water. i have a habit of developing a feeling for a song and wanting to hold that feeling for longer than the song lasts so i will just listen to the same song over and over which is hard to do with cassettes whilst on the go. look for water ends again. i press rewind and go too far back and it goes into place to be II i fast forward what i guess would be 20 seconds of tape. I press play and hit the record button at the same time. this is the 4th time I’ve done this with this song on this side of this tape. it's becoming filled with 1-3 second breaks of silence or maybe a faint sound of a step or a car in the background. i'm trying to keep at least one side of this tape unadulterated and one side just for me that’s filled with warps and mistaken recordings from walking and operating my portable.

i stop at the park i frequent almost daily. i take a break from listening to look for water i change the tape to westelaken’s* i am steaming mushrooms. i love how it starts off with ozzy’s palace a nearly 14 minute piano forward ballad where songwriter and frontmen jordan seccareccia shows off his lyricism along with his fuzzy yet country inspired guitar work. it's a sunny but chilly december day. the people are alive today at the park with the farmers market, someone tagging a concrete wall behind the fountain, and there are even two people handing out hot dogs for free. i will swing by and see if they have one to spare. i think one of the people handing out dogs would know who i am.. but i am too shy to reveal my identity even though i do consider myself very much in public. is this the hot dogs for free mentioned on the homepage? [webmaster note: you can learn more about hot dogs for free here]

i am eating my hotdog and walking as ozzy’s palace fades into pear tree a fast paced quick witted song that inspires me to want to travel to the east coast of canada someday. they seem to have it really figured out up there. the sun is starting to set and I’ve finished up my errands in the city for the day. im going home now.
